Gmail Experiment

With the recent release of Google Talk, I am trying something. I used to have most of my email addresses forwarding to one place and I would pull that down with POP3 (my current hosting plan doesn’t allow IMAP). The problem with this is, any time want to move my email client to a new machine I also have to copy all of my mail (since it is stored locally). Also, checking my email with my client makes it inaccessible by the web interface after it is checked.

My attempted solution – all of my email (with the exception of a few specialized automated accounts) is now being forwarded to my Gmail account. Since I LOVE Gmail’s interface, and it allows pop3 (automatically archiving instead of removing the email from the web inbox), I think it will give me exactly what I need. Another added benefit should be Google’s nice spam filtering. We’ll see how it goes.
