Hybrid – Here I come
So, my brother’s truck has been declared deceased. He’s been borrowing my car the last month or so while they tried to repair it – to no avail. I have been okay without a car, walking to work and calling my brother up when I needed a lift, but it gets annoying after a while. The options now are for my brother to by a used car and give me mine back, or for be to by a new or used car and sell him mine (cheap).
This got me looking (bad idea). I had already narrowed down what I wanted. I either wanted a Subaru WRX, a Mini Cooper, a Smart car (that a mentioned before) or a hybrid of some kind.
Subaru would be fun, but really isn’t worth the 30 grand price tag for what I need it for. Mini Coopers are interesting, but are starting to be way over done. I’m getting really tired of waiting for the smart car, and it would be more of a toy than anything, so that left hybrids.
I looked at Honda’s Insight and Toyota’s Prius – everything else was either out of my price range or not what I was looking for. I figured out that the Insight is rather small, and not much cheaper than a Prius – test drove a Prius and now I’m hooked.
It is a fun little car. Nice size (4 door sedan/hatchback) and definitely a geek’s toy. The in-dash display of your current power source/gas mileage/stereo controls/climate controls all on a touch screen ::drool:: and I don’t think I can avoid getting the added GPS.
Hrmm… I really want this car – but it’s been two days since I even started thinking about it up till now. It’s a good chunk of change, but from what I’ve read about this car – worth every penny. We’ll see. If i get it, I’ll just have to start a new category for my car
