Left or Right?
A year ago, I couldn’t tell you the differences between democrats and republicans, conservatives and liberals, left and right. I have always thought that it was silly that there are such distinctions between these two groups, acting like it was the only option. At that point, I couldn’t tell you where I fell. I had my views, and that was it – no political lables.
Now, the fight is on – in a little over 2 weeks we have an election that is gearing up to be one of the most vicious battles I can imagine. I have found which side of the battle line most of my views fall (note: most – not all). What does this get me? frustration. I, like many Americans, know who they don’t want to vote for – is this really the way to choose a leader?
Now that I know these things – I don’t understand. There are such clear lines between the sides, and yet the race is so close. How can this be? How can about half of the country think one thing while the other half thinks another? Or, am I wrong – could it be that there are zealots from each side, and the majority of the rest just fall close to the center, slightly one way or the other? Either way, how can it be so hard to decide what a majority wants? And why, please why, are there only two sides that have more than a snowball’s chance in hell?
My final conclusion? I was much happier when I didn’t know all of this stuff… Not that I like being ignorant – but it bothers me, and frankly scares me, that things are the way they are. If they continue in this way, how far are we from total disaster?
I need to get off of this planet…

And you finally started coming to my real site
Yeah, it sucks – but I saw a sign (a fully sized billboard along I80) in eastern Pennsylvania that confirms the need to vote against Bush – a giant sign saying “One nation under God. Bush/Cheney 2004″ – the word “under” being bolded and underlined. Now, I consider myself christian – i have no issues with the practice of religion anywhere, but not everyone in this country believes in God, or even in religion itself.
Religious zealots should not be president.
