Rochester Musings
Been in Rochester the last few days vising Casey
– Life is good, it just sucks that I have to leave her again soon
Anyway, I’m sitting in Java Wally’s on RIT’s campus while Casey is at work… I’m going to go visit Hans’s supposidly “pimped out” dorm room. Figures, he gets a nice sound system and a bunch of other fun stuff AFTER we move out of the apartment.
Saw an interesting thing when I walked into Java’s – BookCrossing.com. It’s an organization that promotes “Read and Release”. In other words, after buying a book (or picking it up from other bookcrosser) and reading it, releasing it back into the wild so that another person can find and enjoy it. Just looking through the box that someone made here I found a couple books that I wouldn’t mind reading. I want to finish Cryptonomicon though – and perhaps I will release it when I am done.
The purpose of the web site for book crossing is the fact that each book gets a number written inside the cover. You can then put this number in on the site and see where the book has been/where it originated. The concept kind of reminds me of Where’s George?, only much cooler.
Well… That’s all for now. Going to make another post in a couple minutes, but it has to do with the Blog Development stuff, so I wanted to keep it seperate.
